Labor Day weekend was well spent. Leaving work early, enjoying driving
south in the sunshine, eating at my favorite restaurants, taking naps,
singing beside my parents in church, exploring a nature trail, and
being engrossed in a good book are just a few highlights from my
weekend away. Pictures to come shortly.

Tonight is my audition for the St. Louis Symphony Chorus. Pray at 7:00
p.m. or anytime before or after. It should only last about 10 minutes,
but I want it to be an effective 10 minutes. Since I’ve never done
something like this before, I’m not too sure about what to expect. I
know where to go, have my aria memorized and amply prepared (Vedrai carino from
Don Giovanni), and have already filled out the necessary paperwork.
Still, the little butterflies keep fluttering around my tummy.

Hopefully I’ll have good news to report tomorrow. In the meantime, I wait and pray.

  1. my heart goes out to you – auditions are the worst.  but you sound well-prepared and that is what’s important.  just sing like there’s no one there to impress.  you have a beautiful voice!
and out of curiosity, do you know what the repetoire is for the chorus this year?  i just imagine beautiful bach cantatas and mozart requiems and masses, along with beethoven’s 9th.  ahhhhh  i loved playing with the choirs in college.  i’ll be performing some chausson pieces, along with an aria from st. matthew’s passion in a few weeks.  not singing, of course, haha.  with a vocal professor in des moines.  she has a gorgeous high mezzo-sop voice that reminds me a bit of yours, actually.

  2. Hey, I sent you an email, but I noticed that I do not have your email address. So I guessed it, and we’ll see if it works. 🙂 It would have been nice to see you this last weekend. Later for now.
