We got a nice shower of rain and hail on Thursday afternoon. If any damage ensued, I captured a few photos on my camera, just in case. Mabel (my Buick) doesn’t seem to be any worse for wear, though.

And did you hear? Kathie Lee Gifford is joining the Today Show on Monday. Are you kidding me? Reputable news source who brings on board former morning talk-show host who used to have her own clothing line at Wal-Mart? Really?

In less controversial news, my parents are coming to visit this weekend, under the auspices of attending my spring choir concert tomorrow night. The concert should go well – the theme for our program is “The Road Home” ending with this same entitled piece by Stephen Paulus. We’ll circle the audience and sing to them in surround sound. How I enjoy this effect. Our program is a mixture of traditional and some very difficult contemporary selections. I’m hoping my up tempo French and angry Estonian are up for the task…as are those in the audience listening.

I can’t tell which I’m more excited about – my parents coming for my concert or the recently reopened seasonal Farmer’s Market. Yet another reason why I love spring! Fresh lettuce and tomatoes will be calling my name tomorrow morning.

I’m dually thrilled to read Julie Andrews new autobiography, “Home.” I haven’t decided if I want to go all out and buy it, or request get it from the library. I’m typically a penny-pinching library-loving girl, but Julie Andrews just might get a little of my “do” this time. A little money/solfege/The Sound of Music pun.

While my parents are here, maybe I can convince my dad that I need a new red bicycle for my birthday (about six weeks away). I haven’t had a new bike since receiving my pink & purple Huffy in 1st grade. I sure rode the wheels off of that thing as a 1st-4th grader! (not literally, mind you) After we moved, we no longer lived in a location safely conducive to bike riding, but now that I live among some dandy bike paths and trails, my childhood summertime memories are beckoning me saying,”We miss you. Come ride again!”

And as we remember the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, may each of us continue to live by his example of peace, justice, and equality for all mankind.
